Artists ON AIR
with Myroslav LaiukDescription
Artists ON AIR is dedicated to showcasing the artistic work of international guests of the Artist-in-Residence program in Krems and presents their impressive work in various event formats. In its fourth edition, we welcome Ukrainian author Myroslav Laiuk. The evening will be accompanied musically by Ukrainian musician and composer Taras Chubai. Host: Reinhard Linke.
Myroslav Laiuk is considered one of the most important voices of contemporary Ukrainian literature. In addition to several volumes of poetry and novels, Laiuk became particularly well known for his literary reportage on the Russian war of aggression. His book Bakhmut (2023), in which he documents the experiences of soldiers and civilians in one of the most fiercely contested cities in Ukraine, was shortlisted for the BBC Book of the Year Award 2024.
Taras Chubai, born in Lviv, Ukraine, is a poet, composer, singer and bandleader of the Ukrainian rock band Plach Yeremiyi, which was one of the most popular bands in Ukraine. Chubai composes and performs songs based on poems by writers of post-Soviet Ukraine and thus plays a central role in the development of post-Soviet literature in the 1990s. Taras Chubai has lived with his family in Furth near Göttweig since 2022.
