Artist Talk
with Roosa Tulvio & Mathias GmachlDescription
In the midst of their walk-in installation “Seeds of Life”, artists Roosa Tulvio and Mathias Gmachl invite you to a conversation about art, nature and responsibility. The architectural-sculptural intervention on Museumsplatz combines sustainable materials, regional plants and sounds to create a sensory-reflective experiential space. Three imposing sculptures in front of the Kunsthalle Krems, the Landesgalerie Niederösterreich and the Karikaturmuseum Krems create a unique atmosphere in which to linger.
The Austrian-Finnish artist duo works at the interface of art, design and ecology. With poetic images and a fine feel for materials, Tulvio & Gmachl create spaces that invite you to pause and reflect. Curator Klaus Krobath talks to them about the idea behind “Seeds of Life”, their joint practice and the question of how art in public spaces can provide impetus for social and ecological change.
In May and June 2025, Tulvio & Gmachl will be guests at AIR - ARTIST IN RESIDENCE Lower Austria (AIR) in Krems. “Seeds of Life” is a project by AIR on the occasion of its 25th anniversary. Klaus Krobath is the program director of AIR. Since 2000, the international residency program has been supporting artists in various disciplines such as visual arts, literature, architecture, music and digital art.
