On the road through the Wachau
The children discover the Wachau with all their senses in the museum: Not only with their eyes, but also by smelling different scents and by feeling comparative materials such as canvas etc., the works of art can be experienced in a very special way. The children playfully explore how artists have captured the Wachau and what stories are hidden in the pictures. The Wachau is not only an impressive landscape, but also a source of inspiration for many artists. To mark 25 years of the Wachau as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, the children embark on an interactive journey through the works of art that focus on this unique region. They will learn essential facts about the region and the protected landscape on the Danube, the flora and fauna, the special architecture with churches, castles and ruins, as well as the people and the customs they live by.
During the 90-minute tour, the children become artists themselves in the creative part. Using colored pencils and paper, they create their own Wachau pictures. What colors characterize the landscape? How can the light, Danube and hills be captured? Inspired by the works of art and their own experiences, they create individual pictures that reflect the children's personal view of the Wachau.
