Zoltán Danyi
Zoltán Danyi, born in 1972 in Senta (former Yugoslavia), studied modern literature at the University of Novi Sad, Serbia, and at the University of Szeged, Hungary.
He has published several volumes of poetry and short stories since 2003, and his debut novel “The Carcass Cleaner” from 2015 received major Hungarian literary awards, including the Miklós Mészöly Prize, the Tibor Déry Prize and the Milán Füst Prize. The German translation of Terézia Mora's novel was shortlisted for the international literary prize “Haus der Kulturen der Welt” in 2019 - a prize for translated contemporary literature. His second novel “Rosenroman” was awarded the only independent Hungarian literary prize, the Merítés Prize. The German translation of the novel (also by Terézia Mora) was chosen as Book of the Month by the Darmstadt jury in 2023 (both Suhrkamp). “From the Gardener's Diary” was also published by Edition Thanhäuser in 2023. Zoltán Danyi lives as a rose grower and writer in Senta, Serbia.
