Lars Jonsson works with thoughts, ideas, and loose wordplay about structures associated with identity, masculinity, relationships, and nostalgia. In this process, humor often emerges as a tap dance between irony and sincerity, or as a starting point for how something can be interpreted, classified, and reworked into meaning or nonsense—in the small openings of everyday life that go almost to the finish line and all the way into the playing field before being waved off by the linesman or the clock strikes 12:00 and it's lunchtime. But sometimes the thinking process stalls, and Lars Jonsson's job in the VAR room (studio) is to lure these “thoughts” with candy, preferably into something concrete so he can show something for his portfolio or simply say something when someone asks, “What did you do today?” Most of the time, however, these thoughts remain in the locker room (iPhone notes). Lars Jonsson is a lazy person with good-girl syndrome, so sometimes they actually result in action—often a performance and/or installation, preferably with objects and/or sound/video, because Lars Jonsson was born with a thumb in the middle of his forehead.
