Turkish poet Bejan Matur and Syrian-born author Hamed Abboud navigate between cultures and linguistic worlds in their poetic texts. Their literature resists speechlessness and oblivion, opening up spaces for memory and dialogue.

Bejan Matur, born in Kahramanmaraş in 1968, is one of the most important voices in contemporary poetry in her country. Her poems have been translated into over 40 languages and have received numerous awards. She has published eleven books to date, including nine volumes of poetry. She lives in Berlin and Istanbul.

Hamed Abboud, born in 1987 in Deir ez-Zor (Syria), fled to Austria in 2012 and now lives in Vienna. His works – most recently “Green Tea – Black Life” (2026) – combine personal experiences with social reflections.
