AMBIGUOUS MARGINS
Esraa Elfeky and Anne Glassner“Ambiguous Margins” brings together the artistic practices of Esraa Elfeky and Anne Glassner, two artists who explore the limits of perception and challenge conventional ways of understanding the world around us. Rather than offering clear answers or fixed interpretations, their works invite moments of pause, attentiveness, and heightened awareness.
Approaching these questions from different perspectives, both artists investigate the relationship between body and mind, inner and outer realities, and human beings and their environment. Their works create spaces where sensory experience and reflection intertwine, opening up new ways of seeing and experiencing the world.
Esraa Elfeky’s work is deeply informed by ecological and spiritual perspectives. Her imagery brings together organic, geological, and biological forms in layered visual narratives that reveal the interconnectedness of all living and non-living matter. Nature is not merely a subject in her work but an active counterpart. By engaging with natural processes and forces, she explores themes of transformation, fragility, resilience, and interdependence.
Anne Glassner’s installation and performance-based practice focuses on states of rest, sleep, and dreaming. She examines forms of existence that resist constant productivity and efficiency, drawing attention to moments of withdrawal, reflection, and regeneration. In her distinctive “blanket garments,” textile sculptures take on bodily presence, blurring the boundaries between intimacy and public space, protection and vulnerability, individual and collective experience.
Together, the works of Elfeky and Glassner embrace ambiguity and openness as productive spaces for encounter and discovery. Their practices encourage visitors to question familiar assumptions and explore alternative ways of relating to themselves, others, and the world. The exhibition unfolds as a dialogue between the visible and the invisible, experience and imagination, inviting a deeper engagement with the complexities of perception and being.
