MEISTERWERKE
WACHAUFollowing its successful launch last year, the “Meisterwerke Wachau” project by Kunstmeile Krems is entering its second phase.
During the 2026 season, works of art from the Artothek Niederösterreich will be exhibited at select tourist establishments throughout the region. Guests can enjoy the scenic and culinary highlights of the Wachau while admiring art from Lower Austria.
ARTWORK
SELECTIONThe selection of works by Austrian artists adorning the premises of the participating establishments ranges from modern to classical. It includes well-known names such as Karl Korab, Chatarina Vopava, Eleonore Hettl, Thomas Reinhold, and Sieglinde Layr, all of whom have strong ties to Lower Austria or were even born here. The selection was made in collaboration with the hoteliers and restaurant owners. Particular attention was paid to ensuring a harmonious integration into the respective spaces and to the personal tastes of the hosts.

November 8, 2026 | 1.00 p.m. – 7.00 p.m.What will tomorrow’s Heuriger taste like?
“Der Morgige,” a reimagined Heuriger concept in the Wachau, explores this question. The focus is on the Heuriger as a cultural cornerstone of the region—and, at the same time, as a source of inspiration for new ideas, perspectives, and moments of enjoyment. The answers unfold across six stations where tradition and innovation converge. The culinary creations are accompanied by selected producers and winemakers from the Wachau and Kamptal regions. Music, stimulating encounters, and carefully selected works from the Artothek Niederösterreich create a special atmosphere and transform the Nikolaihof for an afternoon into a vibrant place of exchange, enjoyment, and inspiration. “Der Morgige” invites you to rediscover the Wachau’s Heurigen culture—rooted in tradition and open to the future.
