Erich Grabner Prize
With the “Austrian Graphic Arts Competition” in 1970, 1973, and 1976, Krems became an important centre for modern graphic art. In the spring of 2024, the graphic arts competition was revived in a contemporary form on the initiative of the Cultural Office of the City of Krems and announced as the Erich Grabner Prize for Artistic Graphic Arts of the City of Krems.
The Erich Grabner Prize for Artistic Graphics, awarded by the City of Krems, honors the memory of Erich Grabner, a former mayor and patron of the arts who passed away in 2022. Grabner's deep understanding of art and culture contributed significantly to the city of Krems's positive cultural development. The art prize, named after Grabner, comprises various categories and is awarded in cooperation with the Province of Lower Austria, the Göttweig Abbey, the Rotary Club of Krems-Wachau, and friends of Erich Grabner. The prize is awarded every two years.
