galeriekremsFriedrich Sochurek's latest works are characterized by his use of color and industrially manufactured materials as image carriers. Inspired by the unity of form, color, materiality, and symbols, Sochurek has moved beyond traditional painterly images and figurative conventions.
From Paper to Plate: A Change in Image Carriers
The technoid environment of the former Glanzstoff factory in St. Pölten, where Sochurek's studio was located, decisively influenced his artistic development. Paper and canvas were replaced by panels, often triangular in shape, that appeared alongside industrial products, such as aluminum tubes or acrylic sheets. Color comes to the fore in many of these works.
Wall Objects: Layers and Textures
These objects are made from layers of panels that are given specific textures through the use of bubble wrap, layering, and superimposition. They are then coated with epoxy resin. This spatial and conceptual vocabulary develops its own artistic language. Additionally, Sochurek creates lucid objects and GEOMETRIX SCULPTURES — interwoven geometric shapes made of colored acrylic glass that are precisely cut using laser technology.
