The NO-Horn Illustration

With the NEINhorn at the museum

The classic picture books about the “No” unicorn tell humorous stories full of fun and adventure for children ages 3–4 and up. The books show how important it is to stand up for yourself by saying “no.”

Together with the NEINhorn, children look at selected pictures in the museum, discover and share stories, playfully slip into the roles of individual characters, and ask themselves: What can we learn from the NEINhorn? What is this feeling of “being stubborn”? When do we say “no” ourselves—and why?

Through conversation, creative activities, and hands-on exercises, the children decipher and identify the characters from the Heart Forest and the NEINhorn’s pastel-colored cotton-candy world. In addition to the popular NEINhorn, children also meet its friends: the NAhUND, who doesn’t care about anything; the KönigsDOCHter, who always contradicts; and the WASbären, who never listens.

Above all, the children come to realize that together they make a pretty good team—and being stubborn is much more fun when you’re together! Disagreement isn’t just allowed—it’s necessary for personal growth and for the world to evolve.

For the 90-minute guided tour, you can choose between two options:

•    Picture Book Cinema with a Reading and Making a NEINhorn Door Hanger
Immersed in the atmosphere created by the stories and illustrations of the NEINhorn, the children dive into a picture book cinema and, with a NEINhorn door hanger, will say “NO” to uninvited visitors in their bedrooms from now on.

•    Creative Workshop
Inspired by the NEINhorn and the pastel-colored Heart Forest, children create their own art: airy streamers, colorful mobiles featuring characters from the NEINhorn world, or a folded collage with hearts and flowers.

Recommended for ages 4–10
Guided tour: 60 min. or 90 min. (including the creative workshop or picture-book cinema)
