The painted horse
Who is this famous artist from New York? The children playfully discover Susan Rothenberg's large-format paintings with all their senses. What made her famous “Horse Paintings” so special? What do the horse paintings in the Kunsthalle Krems have to do with the depictions of horses on the walls of the Lascaux cave?
In the exhibition, the children explore the works of art with all their senses. They discover colors and shapes, feel different materials such as brushes, canvas and paper and immerse themselves in the fascinating world of painting. Together they ponder: What makes a horse a horse? How is this animal depicted using only colors and lines?
During the 90-minute guided tour, the children become artists themselves in the creative section. Inspired by Rothenberg's technique, they paint their own animals with chalks and colored pencils - abstract, lively and unique.
