Focus Tour. On the road with Schiele & Co.

The exhibition “Unterwegs. Reise in die Sammlung” (On the Road: A Journey Through the Collection) showcases key works from Lower Austrian art history and guides visitors through the diversity of the region. Highlights include masterpieces by Egon Schiele, Marie Egner, and Oskar Kokoschka, as well as late Baroque paintings by Schmidt from Krems. A particular highlight is the eight-meter-long “Panorama of the Danube Valley with the Ruins of Dürnstein Castle” (1906) by Anton Hlavaček. The exhibition is complemented by detailed works by Waldmüller, Neder, and Gauermann, as well as icons of Wachau painting and atmospheric impressionism.
