Arno Oehri
Arno Oehri is interested in alchemical processes, quantum-physical phenomena, the friction between logos and mythos, the irresistible power of poetry, and the immediacy with which sound, noise, and music penetrate and affect us. As a dedicated multimedia artist, Arno Oehri is interested in the boundaries and overlaps between different artistic disciplines—where one form transitions into another, where forms of expression meet, rub against one another, or flow into each other. Equally important are site-specific, time-specific, and context-specific aspects. Oehri explores what it means to be human and to be conscious in a universe that we cannot comprehend. Can art bring us closer to the great questions of humanity?
Oehri began as a draughtsman and painter, later incorporating performance. Through performance came other media, including texts, music, and video. Since 1994, he has created video installations, documentary film productions, and feature films under his own direction. In 2006, Oehri founded the multimedia and sound performance group KLANGLABOR.
