the space in between
Painting and photography blend together in Martin Veigl’s works. While his art displays photo-realistic, often figurative moments and motifs, they are broken up and at the same time joined together by gestic, abstract passages. Veigl does not simply adopt photography; rather, he integrates it dynamically into his imagery. A diversity of positions and various directions of movement and lines of gaze are what characterize the compositional complexity of Martin Veigl’s paintings and drawings.
Martin Veigl studied at the University of Art and Design Linz, Vienna’s University of Applied Arts, and the Willem de Kooning Academy in Rotterdam. He has been nominated three times for the STRABAG Art Award. He currently lives in Stadt Haag, Lower Austria.
