In order to be able to see the artistic works of Kerstin Wiesmayer, one must feel. Her objects invite us to sit, lean, or crouch. The physical positioning can stimulate intellectual freedom and inspiration. Wiesmayer explores the boundaries between art and design and in her artistic work focuses on the often subtle communication the human body conducts with objects or the surrounding space. How do people “speak” with their things, and what information do these things exchange with each other?

Kerstin Wiesmayer, born in Linz, Upper Austria, studied at Vienna’s University of Applied Arts. Together with Jakob Wiesmayer, she founded the artists’ collective studio[sic]. She lives and works in Hofarnsdorf, in the Wachau.
